Creative Lab Cultures

"Science + Craft = Art

This petite wall hanging represents a virus growing on a petrie dish - but is much sweeter and far less hazardous to your health.

It's been handcrafted from vintage moss green coarse-weave fabric, and is framed in an 8cm (approx 3 inch) diameter embroidery hoop of blonde wood.

The beautiful virus has been created from two starburst-shaped pieces of vintage doily, as well as three vintage plastic buttons in shades of green.

All materials - except for the frame - are recycled or vintage, making this an eco-friendly addition to any household."

Binary solo...0000001 00000011...

"This cuff bracelet has the saying or quote of your choice translated into binary code and photo etched on copper. Due to space limitations, sayings are limited to 70 characters including spaces, when translated each character will be eight binary numbers.

The cuff can be Blackened with liver of sulfur, sanded for contrast and treated with Renaissance Wax to protect the finish, or left natural copper.

Total length of copper is 6 inches, measured from widest points is 2.5 inches (standard cuff size). Metal was left with some give so it is easy to get on and off, but work hardened so it will retain its shape."

Nooooo!!!!! Not again!!!

"As seen on Gizmodo.com and Wired.com !!!

http://gizmodo.com/5385132/blue-screen-of-death-on-a-belt

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/10/blue-screen-of-death-belt-buckle/

The Blue Screen of Death on Chrome Nickel Buckle with Black web Belt!

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSoD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is a colloquialism used for the error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down to prevent damage.

for more info;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death

The buckle is about 1.3" x 1.75" and the belt part is 44" inches of 1 1/4" wide cotton webbing.

Buckle is metal and uses the awesome clam style closure!

The image is sealed under a gloss finish to protect it from any abuse and wear and tear. Plus, the belts are Vegan friendly!

If you would like me to trim the length to your size just let me know, but it is really easy to do yourself and you will get a more custom fit(just open the clip on the back of the buckle, cut the belt to the correct length and then take a lighter to the cut end and reinsert it into the back of the buckle)

I do my best to represent the items true color in the pictures, but due to differences in monitor calibrations the color may vary slightly, but i guarantee you will dig it!"

Stick It To 'Em

I really do have a thing for Lego jewelry... Here we have stud earrings! Simple, subtle, yet still Lego!  The rings are a bit less subtle...especially if you attach something Lego to them! Potentially a huge amount of versatility!  You could probably attach things to the earrings too... These items aren't necessarily intended for that...but that's where my mind goes with it!

Continue on Disc 2

"The sweetest little blank mini notebook, in seafoam green, made from recycled floppy disks. Both the front and back cover sport the now almost defunct floppy disk or diskette widely used 'back then' in the day but are now repurposed into this fabulous little notebook in the perfect size to take everywhere.

These new colors even have a label on the inside so you can write your secret thoughts on it or a special note to your "giftee".

Now in fabulously terrific new colors!

The disks measure 3 1/2" x 3 5/8" with the binding adding another 1/2" to the width. There are 45 sheets (90 writing surfaces) of recycled writing paper and when you've used them all you can easily add a pad of post-its to the inside for even more possibilities.

The binding used allows your notebook to open and lay flat.

These are small enough to carry in your pocket, purse, backpack or anywhere you need a quick notebook.

Impress your friends with your fabulous geekiness."

It's never too early to learn your elements!

"H and He are brothers, but long ago He was granted title and lands, leaving behind his younger sibling. Since then, they have been on opposite sides of war, H unwilling to be civil and even-tempered. In a world where elements collide, only you can create order out of chaos. Will you strike Au? (Note: At ThinkGeek, we don't suggest striking anyone. But Gold, we wouldn't mind striking Gold.) Just be careful of Ruthenium, we hear she's pretty ruthless.
Exclusive to ThinkGeek, this set of 20 solid wood building blocks features all the elements of the periodic table. And even though they're building blocks, don't think they're just for babies! Sure, they're fun to pick up and throw around, but as your wee geek ages, they'll grok more and more why this set of blocks is totally nerdtacular. In fact, we betcha that your favorite chemistry nerd would love these, even if they're 36 years, not 36 months."

Those constellations are popular now-a-days

"These handmade greeting cards provide a unique and elegant perspective on constellations and were crafted with the environment and the avid stargazer/science geek/nature-lover in mind. Each card contains an astronomically accurate representation of one of the constellations found in the Northern and Southern hemispheres; the diameter of each star on your card is directly related to that star's brightness.

Each star grouping is hand-punched into midnight blue cardstock that is 30% recycled and Forest Stewardship Council certified. Sustainably harvested hemp yarn binds the undyed lokta paper lining to each outer card and doubles as a support for hanging your card on the wall. Neil Diamond wrote that song!

"Every wondered what wine would look like if you poured it out into a necklace and looked at it really, reeeaaally close up? Maybe something like this - delicate, shining molecular structures.

In the center is reservatrol, the antioxidant found in red wine. It's flanked on either side by ethanol and water. All the molecules are painstakingly crafted out of seed and bugle beads strung on fine-gauge copper wire, and as per the standard, carbon molecules are black, oxygen red, and hydrogen white. They hang on a simple strand of seed beads punctuated by little chunks of rich, winy garnet.

The necklace as a whole is about 20" (51 cm) long, and the central molecule hangs about 3.5" (8 cm) down. It's a fairly lightweight piece. The clasp is a lobster claw, and can be changed out to a magnetic clasp upon request."

My Daily Battle

I am soo craving coffee this morning...not sure if I'm going to give in....but I'm definitely going to be debating it in my head until I do...

"Enjoy your favorite to-go coffee shop drinks guilt free! Just say no to those throw-away paper sleeves and wrap your cup the fashionable(and responsible) way. Do your part to reduce waste while representing your brainy side too. Featured on this sleeve is an image of the caffeine molecule.

This sleeve will be made to order, so you can choose the style and colors of your sleeve. The body of the sleeve is created using eco-felt. This material is made out of recycled plastic bottles so it is extra environmentally conscious and vegan friendly too. The eco-felt is doubled up with a second piece inside for extra insulation to keep your drinks warm and your hands safe. Everything is held together snugly with a blanket stitch for a nice finish. The text is hand embroidered with a chain stitch and the back has the name of the molecule "caffeine" on a little patch. Your sleeve will fit most standard to-go cups.

Pop one of these in your purse, backpack or glove compartment so you always have it on hand. Next time you order your daily indulgence say no-thanks to the paper sleeve and flaunt your eco-pride."

Hops-a-long

"Humulone is the alpha-acid in hops. In beer, humulone improves foam stability, adds the bitter, hoppy taste and prevents microorganism growth. Humulone also breaks down growth and cell reproduction in human leukemia cells. Have a little hops!

Roll for dexterity.

"This large bag is comprised of 16 ga. hand rolled and cut galvanized steel rings with 3/8" inner diameter. What is possibly better for keeping your fantasy role playing dice (or wallets, marbles, wads of twine; pretty much anything) than a +3 chain mail sack? My photos show it holding 63 dice (yes, I know), and it's only at half capacity! The draw cord is genuine faux leather, because vegans need a dice bag too. Dimensions while laying flat are 5.5"x5.5" (14x14 cm)."

As a vegan, I really appreciate the faux leather cord.  And NOTHING is cooler than chain mail!
