œ is such a cool thing to spell with

"Estrogens (AmE), oestrogens (BE), or œstrogens, are a group of steroid compounds, named for their importance in the estrous cycle, and functioning as the primary female sex hormone. Their name comes from estrus/oistros (period of fertility for female mammals) + gen/gonos = to generate.

Estrogens are synthesized in all vertebrates as well as some insects. The presence of these steroids in both vertebrate and insects suggests that estrogenic sex hormones have an ancient history.

Perfect for the chemistry or biology buff in your life!

Eat sushi, defend the galaxy

"But now, we must eat. Come, good food, come... and meet your end in the grasp of the Star Wars Chop Sabers. They're lightsabers, they're chopsticks, they'll change the way you experience your favorite Asian foods. If you missed the chance to pick these up at San Diego Comic Con 2009, now is the time to grab these Japanese imports from ThinkGeek and deftly maneuver your food with the power of the Force. We're not sure if you know this, but Yoda has been known to carve his Thanksgiving turkey using his lightsaber."

4 blocks, 11 shapes, and a Russian theme song

"Remember the days of black and white gameboy? That "hand held" game was so chunky and heavy, but we all loved it!

All glass pendants are hand cut, assembled and fused together in my home studio. They are all cooled slowly in my kiln to ensure strength and durability."

Glass Tetris Pendants found at UrbanFusions' Etsy shop.

¿Cómo se llama?

"Calling all geeks! We have a product that has your name written all over it...literally! This fantastically nerdy nameplate is the perfect gift for you, your friends, and your family because it is personalized with periodic table elements that can spell out just about any name you can think of!

The wooden display is 6 3/4" long and has been painted black but if specified, can be natural wood or painted another color. The scrabble tiles used are .75" square and have the periodic table tile on top protected by a nice shiny glaze. This is truly the ultimate in geek gift giving. "

The 01101100 Word

Perfect for "you're geeky better half".....the phrase "I LOVE YOU" has been inked in binary on the page of a vintage dictionary, and a little red heart has been added.  Even better if that other half is concerned about the environment because the frame is made from sustainable wood scraps.  You can also order a custom design in case you have another phrase to translate into binary.  Found at Wall Envy Art's shop on Etsy.

I need a red 2 by 2

Another Lego item!  They are so versatile and can be used for so many creative things...I suspect that after awhile we will have featured enough Lego items to create a wardrobe (both the large closet type and the clothing selection that would be in side).  Cufflinks makes, well, cuff links, and has a huge selection when it comes to Lego cuff links.  So you have no excuse for not wearing these because you will find something that matches!  It's mentioned in the item description that these would be great for groomsmen and I agree!  With the Lego color selection, you could easily find some that go with the wedding colors!  Or whatever color selection you care about - your school, sports team, whatever!  Found at Cufflinks Etsy shop

The Ruler of All Pens

Any building buff will love this scale ruler pen. This retractable ballpoint pen is made out of a scale ruler, which is a specialized ruler used in architecture, engineering and construction. The scale ruler is used to make or measure from reduced scale drawings such as blueprints and floor plans. This pen is in the traditional triangular shape of the scale ruler complete with a range of calibrated scales (ratios). A convenient tool for writing, measuring and marking up those blueprints. Designed by Shigeru Ban. The scale ruler pen has a fine point and you can order additional refills too. Made in the USA.  Found at UncommonGoods.com.

Lego my Giraffe-o

Hooray for Legos!  I was constantly playing with Legos as a kid (and wish I still had my collection today to play with...I'm still not sure where it went) but I could rarely make anything other than houses or what the directions told me to make.  I guess I'm just not the creative Lego type!  Fortunately CarvinSculptures is that type and has an Etsy shop full of unique items 'scuplted' entirely from Legos!

Beep Bleep Beep Pthwww Beep

I'm not sure how to transcribe R2D2 noises.....anyways.....if you can knit (or have a friend whom knits, or can hunt down someone whom knits, etc.) you can have an R2D2 beanie (or toque if you're Canadian).  I can knit and have been meaning to make this but haven't gotten around to it, but the pattern is free online at Carissa Knits.  People have commented that it wasn't difficult to make and the pattern is ready in three sizes (child, adult small, and adult large).  The supplies you'd have to buy end up being enough for two so you and your BFF can have matching hats (toques) and run around beeping at each other pretending to understand what's going on!  Or at least that's what I would do....and will do when I get around to making this!

Not Exactly Subtle Wall Art

We've all been in those houses that have the sentimental word signs (LOVE, FAMILY, HOME, etc.) and we like them, but the words just don't seem very fitting or personal enough for us to place in our own homes.  Oh Dier solved the problem for us by making word signs from recycled wood that say things like "geek" and "nerd".  There are also signs that say "holla", "bananas", and many more awesome phrases.  You can also get custom colors to match your décor.  Items can be found at Oh Dier's Etsy shop.

Catch That Molecule

Suncatchers seem old school to me, but Quingawaga gives them new life (or at least super geeky life) by having the lines form chemical structures.  Your current choices are caffeine, dopamine, and theobromine (do you know which is which? or what they are/do?).  Previously there have also been serotonin, and resveratrol.  Found at Quingawaga's Etsy shop.

Fix Any Jewelry Collection

I think my love for Duck Tape is best exemplified by the fact that I have three rolls sitting on my desk (purple, lime green, and plaid (the graduation gift from my parents that most excited me)).  I haven't been too crafty with it (yet....) but always appreciate those whom are!  These rings, sunflower pen, and tie (for an adult though pictured on a child) are found at Quiet Mischief's Etsy shop.

This might smell bad.

If these images don't look familiar.....then you need to re-watch The Empire Strikes Back ASAP.  Something about Luke and Han on Hoth and Luke gets hurt and needs to be kept warm......so Han slices open a dead Tauntaun with a light saber (hence the zipper pull! Detail, YES!) and shoves Luke inside to save his life.  You too can be saved by a Tauntaun!  The head serves as a pillow and there's an intestine pattern printed on the inside!  Sadly, it's for indoor use only.  Found at ThinkGeek.com.

You can't get a hotel because there aren't enough houses for you to trade them in! HA!

Like the title?  Monopoly is one of the greatest games ever and I love not trading in my houses for hotels to limit the amount of houses so other people can't upgrade to hotels because you have to physically own the four houses you want to trade in for a hotel!  Yes, you would hate playing Monopoly with me.  Perhaps you should purchase some Monopoly house earrings from Eccentric Accessories on Etsy.com to have as back up in our game in case I monopolize the housing market.  I also pictured the K'nex, Lego, and Pacman earrings....great, classic nerd toys!  And for the K'nex and Lego items, there's a wide variety of colors found in the shop (I was boring and only used the yellow...).  There are also other items besides earrings so don't be sad if you don't have your ears pierced!

Super Heroine Chic

DC Comics has teamed up with nOir jewelry to create items based on Catwoman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, and Super Girl.  What girl doesn't want their own Wonder Woman Cuff? My super hero of choice is Batman, so I'm drawn to the Bat symbol bracelet/cuff and Gotham City ring.  The next time I have $215 to spend on jewelry....a gunmetal cubic zirconia encrusted bat will make its way to my wrist.

Strangled by Math

Since calculators can get a bit clunky, why not wear a stylish abacus around your neck?  Everyone can be an abacist with all the abaci!  The stones slide along the silver so the abacus is functional.  Found at AF Orfebre at Etsy.com.

I've Got the Power!

Is it practical? Maybe not for a North Dakota winter (we'll wear ours in spring), but it's a totally geeky accessory that tells everyone you've got the power! Last we checked you can buy yourself a knitted power cord in charcoal, orange, and yellow - and if you're crafty enough to pull it off, you can buy the pattern and make one yourself in which ever color you want! Stay plugged in to your fashionable geek side! Found at KnitKnit's shop on Etsy.com.

Imagine Russian Text Here

The Space Exploration Age!  Ah...the good 'ol days.
It doesn't get much cooler than vintage Russian stamps on a necklace.

"A striking Russian stamp from 1963 is attached to delicate beaded vintage chain. A unique and lovely gift!

The vintage stamp sits on a piece of recycled record vinyl with rounded edges. It has a glossy coating, for durability and shine. The pendant measures about 2" wide. The vintage beaded chain is 16" long with an optional up to 2" extension." Found at MidnightGirlDesigns on Etsy.com.
